Dr Emma Hart

FOUNDER

Emma is a conservation ecologist and author with extensive international experience in the design and management of science-based conservation initiatives. She is the founder of habitats.ie, a consultancy service in biodiversity conservation, science-communication and research, of Oysterhaven Biodiversity Reserve, a 50-acre nature reserve and research site in the south of Ireland, and of Habitats Research Centre, a highly collaborative partnership with state bodies, NGOs and third level institutes with the shared aim of testing and developing cutting-edge methods in nature restoration on Irish farmland. Emma has a PhD in conservation ecology and an MSc in psychology and draws from both fields in her conservation work. She serves on several international professional committees including for the IUCN and Farming for Nature and publishes regularly in both the popular and scientific press. She is also a passionate adventurer, having spent six years leading conservation and research expeditions in sub-Saharan Africa, often on horseback.
